For Free Music Friday this week I’ve decided to stick with an artist outside of Nashville. In fact over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing with you some of my favorite artists who all reside outside of Music City. These are artists whose music I’ve been wanting to share with you for a while now & it’s great to finally do so. This week’s artist is Peter Bradley Adams. Some of you maybe familiar with Adams’ past work in the duo Eastmountainsouth. Since parting ways with Eastmountainsouth Adams has released three solo records, 2006’s “Gather Up”,2008’s “Leavetaking” & 2009’s “Traces”. Adams brings that same great songwriting & acoustic music to his solo albums that fans of Eastmountainsouth were familiar with. Out of the three “Leavetaking” is one of my favorites. Check out the songs “The Longer I Run”, “Los Angeles”, and “I’ll Forget You” to hear why this album is one of his best.
Adams has a new album coming out this June titled “Between Us”. Our free track this week, “Full Moon Song”, is from this upcoming album. On “Full Moon Song” we find Adams’ familiar airy vocals, simple acoustic arrangements & beautiful, thought provoking lyrics. The song is kept simple in the beginning allowing the acoustic guitar to be the main instrument. As the song advances so does the instrumentation, with a slide electric guitar, bass & organ. Lyrically this is a song about a prison escape & how the prisoner is determined to finally live his life to its fullest now that he has escaped from his prison cell. In this song Adams’ speaks of second chances, living your life to the fullest, & putting away past sins & fears that have held you back from doing so. If “Full Moon Song” is an example of what we can expect come June, then “Between Us” is going to be an album well worth the wait.
Adams’ is currently on tour & will be playing a few shows with some of Nashville’s best songwriters like Mindy Smith & Griffin House. Visit PeterBradleyAdams.com for a list of dates & to hear cuts from his past solo albums.
