What do you get when a devastating flood hits Nashville? You get a city standing together more than any other to help their neighbor’s recover & rebuild. The music industry has played a big part in this by raising millions of dollars through various concerts both on a national scale & locally. Artists have also contributed music to help in raising money for various charities in Nashville. One artist in particular, Mike Farris, is releasing a EP later this fall to raise money for the Music Cares Flood Relief Fund. All 6 songs on this EP were recorded in one day at the Downtown Presbyterian Church with some of the best musicians in Nashville! Sam Bush, Kenny Vaughan, Ketch Secor and Gil Landry of Old Crow Medicine Show, The McCrary Sisters, Derrek Phillips and Eric Holt of the Roseland Rhythm Revue, and Byron House all contributed musically to this project. Mike has posted 3 of the songs from this upcoming EP to NoiseTrade.com for free but since the project was created for charity he’s asking that you please donate any amount you chose through the “Tip” option on Noise Trade.

The song “The Night The Cumberland Came Alive” is throw back to good ole’ mountain music blues. It has reference to Bellevue, Tennessee one of the worst hits of the flood and having to ‘Feel through the dark in candlelight’ when the power was out.. The solo’s portray a great up beat sound to what happened to Nashville after the flood, we came together to stand up and re-build our city.
