Jimmy Buffett Gulf Concert without Kenny Chesney or Zac Brown

July 11th is the new date for the CMT Presents Jimmy Buffett & Friends Live From the Gulf Coast concert. The originally scheduled date ten days prior was cancelled due to Hurricane Alex. This means the originally scheduled lineup will be modified. Both Kenny Chesney and the Zac Brown Band can’t appear.

Kenny Chesney tweeted, “Hate that I can’t get to Gulf Shores to sing w @jimmybuffett, Mac McAnally @zacbrownband! Gonna be great music!” Despite the drop in big name acts and no guaranteed lineup for Sunday, the show seems to have gained a boost in popularity after Jimmy Buffett appeared on CNN with Anderson Cooper.

Many locals are excited about the boom this will bring to their economy, especially local hotels that depend so much on tourism revenue. Not everyone is 100% behind Buffett’s agenda after his comments in an Associated Press interview blaming Bush for today’s oil spill crisis. Some people say that he should focus on what he does best and stay out of the oil spill and politics.

Al.com, Alabama’s news site, reported that all 35,000 free tickets for the event were gone before most had an opportunity to buy.  Tickets were being sold on eBay for $100+.  Ebay responded by quickly removing all scalped tickets.  The concert will be commercial free on CMT, streamed on CMT.com and will be available on the satellite radio station Radio Margaritaville.
