Andrew Combs “Tennessee Time”

Music has a way of cutting deep into a persons soul, so deep that it can bring back memories long thought forgotten. Sometimes it’s good memories, sometimes it’s not but either way it causes us to reevaluate those things & in the end we’re always made better for it. Americana music stirs my soul like no other and with the wealth of great Americana artist coming out of Nashville I don’t see that love dying anytime soon. Andrew Combs is one of those musicians whose music stirs my soul & renews my love for Americana music each time I hear it.

Andrew Combs comes to TN via Texas. Since moving to Nashville Andrew has been working on his songwriting with another great local songwriter Heidi Feek who is also a guest vocalist on his newest album “Tennessee Time”. “Tennessee Time” is not only the title of his new EP but also its title track. “Tennessee Time” tells of the beauty of Tennessee in simple yet poetic detail. Its natural beauty, its quiet southern ways, its music & its people are all touched upon. Like Sonia Franzago said in Andrew’s bio “It’s enough to make Tennessee’s children bloom with pride & its out-of-state visitors weak with envy.” If Tennessee needs another state song, it has 8 so far, then they don’t have to look any further than Andrew Combs. Every track on “Tennessee Time” is worth checking out, especially for those who love raw, real music with lyrical content that cuts deep. Even though we can’t offer any tracks for free from “Tennessee Time” there is a song that Andrew is giving away on Bandcamp called “Dark End of the Street”. For those familiar with the music of the great soul singer James Carr then you’re probably familiar with “Dark End of the Street”. Other artist have sang it as well like the Flying Burrito Brothers, Elvis Costello, Aretha Franklin & Percy Sledge. Andrew takes this amazing soul song & makes it his own by adding a slight country flair to it. With backing vocals by Heidi Feek this is a song worth more than just an e-mail address, but lucky for us that’s all it takes to grab a copy of this track.

Andrew will be at the Loveless Barn on Sept. 15th at 7pm for Music City Roots. In the meantime make sure to pick up a copy of “Tennessee Time” from iTunes, through Andrew’s website or on Bandcamp.com!
